How to finish your hoop

by | Feb 19, 2020 | 0 comments

When you are done and happy with your stitching, you may decide to display your work on your wooden hoop.

The first thing you would want to do is make sure that it is washed if necessary (it may not need to be) and ironed.

Place it back into the hoop, ensuring it is centered and the hoop tight enough to keep your fabric’s tension. From then on, follow the steps below.

Step 1

Cut the excess fabric. leaving approximately 1.5 to 2″ around the hoop.

Step 2

Cut approxiamtely 1 yard of plain cotton thread.

Step 3

Flip your hoop and work your way around with the needle and thread in a weaving motion.

Step 4

Once you are back at starting point, gently pull the thread, tight enough to pull the fabric in but not so tight that you risk to break the thread.

Step 5

When you are satisfied that the fabric is gently tucked in, stitch the excess thread a couple of times right across the opposite side of the hoop.

Step 6

This can now be used to hang your hoop up on the wall.

Step 7

Your hoop is ready!
